A new bag...

classic // BTL // bag

... made with recycled leather, from an old pair of leather boots which belonged to M. a long time ago, a very nice heavy weight Japanese cotton, and of course, natural linen.

I still love my little signature squares...

I love the simplicity. What do you use to cut your leather? Just fabric scissors or something heavy duty?

I use a rotary cutter and a sturdy metal ruler - and a cutting mat! Depending on the thickness of the leather it can be tricky but I built up confidence and got quite good at cutting leather now... ;)

Gorgeous bag - simple and effective design. So glad that you are back to creating bags and that those plagiarists haven't discouraged you :) Kx

It is fabulous. I love the contrast between the main fabric and the lining. Very elegant!

Love this bag (and your tutorials! Please don't stop providing them. The rest of us need to learn to be fair and give credit where it's due. Glad you wrote the magazine!).

Do you hand stitch inside? Love the stripe look as a liner.

Love it...and so creative to add the little squares. You're quite talented and make it look so easy! I just started sewing this year so this is super inspirational to me. Thanks!

very cool bag! I'm just curious if the stitching on the lining is by machine or hand? I love this look and in the past have achieved it by hand stitching - but it is way too much work!! Haven't experimented with my machine just yet... any suggestions? thank you! love your blog!

I bought the lining like this - it's a very nice heavy weight cotton (linen maybe?). I instantly fell for the stitches - I bought it a long time ago, but waited forever to use it as I didn't want to ruin it... I have a piece left which might end up in a pillow cover, or another bag, who knows...

I'm so impressed. Not only the pattern you have created, but also your choice of fabric is great.
