Color me a rainbow

rainbow colored cell phone pouches

We've been experiencing the weirdest Spring ever, so far.
We've had extremely low temperatures for the past several weeks.
Easter was colder than Christmas.
Frozen eggs instead of a white Christmas...

So, to give nature a little hand: here are some cheerful cell phone pouches I made.
Rainbow colors for the front, white for the back, and natural tan leather for the tabs and strap.
Just like the previous ones, completely hand sewn and made with the yummiest leather.
Available through my Etsy store, as usual.

Striped

Striped Coin Purse

First of all, thanks for your comments, both online and offline, on my previous post! I really appreciated your suggestions. A strap would definitely make more sense if I want to get more use out of my bag. But,
for now, I guess I'll leave it as it is. Until I'm absolutely sure. I really like the way it looks now, so better safe than sorry... for now...

Striped Coin Purse

There's been more leather works going on here. I made these yesterday afternoon. The same as the previous set I made - they're all gone so I wanted to stock up on them again. All four are hand sewn.
I really got the hang of it. As a matter of fact I find it less stressful than sewing on the machine, as you only get one chance with leather...
I added a little bit of 'peps' this time, by painting a neon stripe on the white ones and a silver one on the blue and coffee ones.

They'll be available in my Etsy shop later on this week.
Wishing you a great week!

it-bag

it-bag

That's right! It became a bag! It will be available in the shop soon!  Update: it is available in the shop  as of now together with a few other items. Go check it out!

Everything on this bag turned out the way I wanted. Even the leather straps which I made myself, and which I'm kind of proud of! They're made out of two layers of natural leather sewn together. The linen is natural oat-meal colored. The patches are cotton and denim.
The bag is fully lined, has two inner side pockets. The patchworked front has an extra layer of flannel in between and is hand embroidered. The back panel is plain natural linen.

No need to add this bag is unique...

Something new...

yellow bag ... for the shop. Yellow linen (a really nice shade of yellow - kind of mustard-like), burgundy red leather squares with contrasting stitch, and striped linen for the inside, including the little pocket. It will be up for sale in my Etsy shop later on this week!

SOS Japan Sale - Hurry up!

SOS Japan

Oatmeal colored linen, a leather rising sun, and a very nice tomato red and white narrow chalk line cotton make this a very stylish shopping bag - the perfect accessory for summer. It's now available in my Etsy shop.

100% of this sale will go to the Red Cross Japanese Disaster Relief Fund.
Shipping is free.

Dimensions:
H: 31cm without handles - 59cm with handles included
W: 43cm

Small pocket on the inside.

Hurry up - there's only one available!  Update: the bag has found a new owner! Thank you for your generosity, Lauren!

PS: I considered the option of keeping an auction as suggested by some of you in the comments on my previous post - an idea I liked a lot - however, there were quite a few practical issues which made me decide to just go ahead and sell through Etsy. But, many thanks for the suggestions made!

On a stick

It's back, with a slightly bigger feather this time - to be found // here //.

I never thought I would use little H.'s sticks one day as props to photograph my necklaces. That and the half-a-tree-trunk base from our last Christmas tree, which has shown up in quite a few pictures lately. It has a hole in it, just the right size to hold the two sticks. I must say I kind of like this "natural sculpture", with and without the necklace... I've been wondering if it would work to build a free standing light fixture with. Which brings me to this totally awesome tutorial at Poppytalk from Bookhou for a woven lamp. We still have plenty of bare light bulbs hanging in our apartment...
Wouldn't that make a nice project for our summer break?

Ruffles for the beach...

Turquoise beads and ruffles, both hand sewn.
Brass lobster clasp, and a brass chain for extension.

You can find this one here.

Asymmetry

asymmetric ruffled leather with turquoise necklace

I like a little asymmetry. I think it adds something. Makes things more interesting.
Hence, an asymmetric ruffled necklace.
The turquoise beads add a nice little touch of color against the dark brown leather.
Ruffles and beads are hand sewn.
This necklace can be worn as a choker or slightly longer.
It will be added to the shop on Monday.

Shop update!

ruffled leather necklace

Thank you so much for your supportive comments, e-mails and suggestions on this post here where I was lamenting my bad sales figure...

I chose the worst of all moments to start my Etsy shop - the end of school year is traditionally loaded with activities and parties and it ain't different this year. On top of that I had to get things ready for my oldest one who left on a trip with her class. Needless to say I didn't even make it to the store front of my very own shop or did any promoting. And I didn't make it anywhere near my sewing machine, either, to sew new bags which has left me a little frustrated, to be honest...

However: I didn't have time maybe to sew, but I managed to make some jewelry instead, last weekend.
I made a slightly altered version of the ruffled leather necklace from a while back, which has become a favorite accessory of mine.
And this one will be is available in the shop!
